Austrian Platform Engineering Community at BRZ
09. July 2025
Packed with expert knowledge on stage and a topic at the cutting edge: the Austrian Platform Engineering Community (APEC) 2025 impressively demonstrated how strong and vibrant Austria’s tech community is.
From GitOps to MLOps, from vision to practice – it wasn’t just about discussion, but also about action. Anyone who was at the BRZ on May 8 could feel it: Platform Engineering is not a hype – it’s the key to the digital future.
Practical and Diverse – Insights from the Community
A special highlight was the keynote by Wilfried Jäger (BRZ), who used a concrete use case to show how DAI-SY leverages the BRZ container platform. Contributions from Red Hat, Dynatrace, Raiffeisen Software, OeNB, REWE International, and many other organizations provided hands-on insights and highlighted the diverse applications of Platform Engineering.
Also noteworthy was the participation of the Hacker School, which presented its own contribution – a strong signal in support of promoting young talent in IT. The openness of the exchange and the variety of perspectives made APEC a true added value for all participants.
“APEC shows how valuable it is when deep expertise meets open discussion. That’s exactly what we need to move forward together as a community.” – Johann Siegl, BRZ
Stephan Kraft from Red Hat: “Platform Engineering and technologies like Kubernetes and OpenShift are not ends in themselves – it’s about empowering teams to develop and operate software faster and more securely. APEC is the perfect place to talk about exactly that.”
Many thanks to the organizing team: David Bittermann (BRZ), Johann Siegl (BRZ), Stephan Kraft (Red Hat), and Robert Bauer (Dynatrace).
